It all started when…

She Stories received an invitation to collaborate with a salon for a period party, leading to the creation of over 200 period packs for homeless women and girls. This experience sparked the initiation of our own movement. During a visit to a stage play in downtown Inglewood, California, our founder, Ehmandah Ramsey, was approached by a homeless woman. Expecting a request for food, Ehmandah was surprised when the woman asked for a tampon. This encounter illuminated the essential nature of She Stories' work, highlighting the impact our services can have on the local community by providing women with dignity. It reinforced the belief that no woman should have to choose between having food and access to a tampon.

We have distributed over 1000 period packs to local shelters and homes in Los Angeles County.

She Stories Inc, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to ending period poverty for unhoused women and girls. Our mission is to provide dignity to those in need by collecting and distributing feminine hygiene products. Thank you for your continued support.

In California alone, the statistics are staggering: approximately 40% of homeless individuals are women, and many of them lack access to menstrual hygiene products. When these essential items are out of reach, homeless women resort to using makeshift alternatives such as toilet paper, socks, or even newspaper, risking their health and dignity. This can lead to serious medical concerns, including infections and discomfort, highlighting the urgent need for proper menstrual products.

Pink Panties: Mocktails with Meaning is a special occasion, distinguished by music, food, and engaging activities. It provides a platform for community members to unite, raise awareness about period poverty, and contribute meaningfully to our cause. With a strong emphasis on empowerment and community engagement, Pink Panties: Mocktails with Meaning fosters a supportive environment where women can share stories and collaborate in serving those facing homelessness.

Looking ahead to 2024, She Stories Inc. is dedicated to establishing a Period Pantry—a safe and supportive space where unhoused women and girls can access feminine hygiene products with dignity. This innovative initiative aims to offer ongoing access to essential menstrual products, alongside educational resources and support services, empowering individuals to maintain their hygiene and dignity despite financial challenges.
